Fundraising

Fundraising

We do fundraising for three equally important reasons;

  1. It is a principle of the Scouting movement that members learn the importance of working together to earn money for the things that they wish to do.
  2. It gives the youth the opportunity to meet with other members of our Group as well as their own Section members in a different setting - serving a different purpose.
  3. Our Scouting youth get out in the community and visibly demonstrate what Scouting offers.

All members youth/parents in the 203 Scout Group participate in fundraisers. These fundraisers ensure we have adequate funds to provide the badges and other awards, craft supplies, a portion of the camping and event funds, leadership training and uniforms, insurance for the group’s assets, school rentals, and other items required to ensure the Group gives the youth the best possible program.

Please see the information for this year's fundraisers below. Additional Fundraisers may be planned throughout the year. When this occurs, we will get the information out as soon as possible.

Purdys Easter Chocolate Fundraiser

Purdys Easter Chocolate Fundraiser

–Starts Now–

DUE: Friday, March 15

Hello 203 Sherwood Park Scouting Familiies!

I hope you are all doing well, and are enjoying the scouting year. Spring is on the way, even though it doesn’t feel like it, and Easter is just around the corner.  Let us help you with your Easter goody shopping.

The Purdy’s Easter Chocolate campaign is running from February 18 to March 15, 2019. Inside the catalog you will find a vast array of choices, many of which will arrive already gift wrapped! There is something for everyone – teachers, clients, co-workers, family members, even the babysitter down the street. There are even pre-packed Easter baskets.

ALL orders must be submitted and paid for no later than Friday March 15, 2019 (paper order must be submitted by March 11, 2019).   Unfortunately, no extensions can be offered due to shipping deadlines. Online orders are preferred. To order online:

  • Go to www.purdysgpp.com. If you are new to the website, click on ‘Register’ or choose ‘Sign In’ if you have previously used the website.
  • Create your account and/or log in and then look for ‘Join a Group’. Our group number is 34395. Once you find it, click on ‘Join this Group’.
  • You will now be directed to the group homepage. From here you can make purchases, send email messages to friends and family inviting them to participate and track your sales.

Thank you for supporting this very important fundraiser. 100% of Scouting registration fees are forwarded to Scouts Canada for insurance and program development. We rely solely on fundraising efforts to cover ALL of our operating costs and proceeds from this campaign will help to fund costs such as facility (gym) rentals, supplies, badges and activity fees.

Please contact David Churchill with any questions at david.churchill@strathcona.ca or 780-893-7963.

2018 – Scout Popcorn

2018 – Scout Popcorn

It’s that time of the year! We get to go out and sell our YUMMY DELICIOUS Scout Popcorn! (This is our largest fundraiser.)

A huge thank you to parents and youth for attending the Popcorn Fundraiser Kickoff !
We appreciate your support.

As shared in our kickoff, the proceeds from the Popcorn Fundraiser are the major source of funding for the Group, as the registration fees that are collected by Scouts Canada do not reach the group.  Our Scouters are committed to providing the most robust experience as possible for the youth and these fundraising dollars ensure that the youth can continue to do the things that they enjoy the most about being involved in the 203 Sherwood Park Scouting Group.

Our campaign runs from September 17th to October 22nd and all monies are due back by October 22nd as there is a very tight turnaround to get the orders entered and submitted to Trails End.

Please assist your youth in canvassing the houses on the route that was assigned to them.
**If you are unable to complete this route, please be in touch ASAP with the Fundraising Coordinator, Karen Veitenheimer so that the route can be completed by another youth.
**If your youth has completed their route and wishes to do another, please be in touch!

*Orders are prepaid – cash, cheque or credit card.  If you would like to accept credit card payments, please be in touch with Karen to get an invite to join the Group’s Square account (DO NOT SET UP YOUR OWN ACCOUNT).

*Please use the receipts with each sale to ensure that our supporters know who to call with any questions they may have.

Orders will be in end of November/beginning of December.  When we have a delivery date, we will set a family pick up location, date and time.  Once you have your popcorn order, please ensure that it is delivered to customers by December 14th as people will be using their orders as gifts or for entertaining through the holiday season.

Our Incentive Program was included in the envelopes distributed and we are very excited to be awarding the youth for their commitment to the campaign.

Thank you very much for your support!
